Lake Mead NRA, which covers 2,337 square miles and is located on the Nevada and Arizona areas bordering Lake Mead and the Colorado River south to Davis Dam. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers year-round recreational opportunities for bicycle riding, boating, fishing, hiking, photography, picnicking and sightseeing. It is also home to thousands of desert plants and animals.
Today you can walk or bicycle along the elevated railroad bed used to haul supplies and materials for the construction of Hoover Dam and enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Mead and the surrounding  landscape.
